For decades, normal law has been suspended in Jammu & Kashmir in favor of draconian emergency legislation such as the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and the Public Safety Act (PSA). Under these legal frameworks, basic constitutional guarantees are dismantled.
When preventive detention laws permit individuals to be jailed for years without trial, and when security forces operate with blanket legal immunity, justice becomes impossible. Freedom of speech, assembly, and movement are treated not as fundamental human rights, but as privileges granted or revoked by state authorities.

We demand the immediate repeal of all exceptional laws, the restoration of due process, and complete legal accountability for human rights abuses, regardless of who commits them.
