When you commit to truth, your enemy’s reaction is predictable: they will oppose you. But the true test of integrity is how you navigate the anger of your own allies.
Throughout my journey, some of the sharpest backlash I have received has not come from state intelligence or foreign apparatuses, but from well-meaning comrades in the struggle. They ask: “Why criticize our own side right now? You are giving ammunition to the adversary.”
This is the classic logic of political compromise, and I reject it entirely:
- Silence in the face of an ally’s error is active complicity.
- Hiding the excesses of violent groups claiming to act in Kashmir’s name does not protect the cause—it degrades its moral stature.
- Supporting foreign allies on global stages while ignoring their internal injustices weakens our credibility when we ask the world to look at Kashmir.
If your truth only applies when it hurts your enemies, it isn’t truth; it is propaganda.
We must be prepared to stand alone if necessary, knowing that political solitude with integrity is infinitely more powerful than a crowd bound by collective deceit.
