One of the greatest tragedies of modern history is how violent extremist groups have distorted Islamic jurisprudence to justify murder, suicide bombings, and terror against innocent people. Absolute truthfulness demands that we confront this intellectual distortion head-on.
Classical Islamic jurisprudence established strict moral boundaries regarding conflict that modern extremist outfits routinely violate:
- The Sanctity of Non-Combatants: Clear, absolute prohibitions against targeting civilians, women, children, monks, elderly individuals, and non-combatants under any circumstances.
- Rejection of Vigilantism: Declarations of conflict and legal rulings cannot be issued by self-appointed individuals or fringe outfits operating outside legitimate community consensus.
- Prohibition of Treachery: Breaking contracts, betraying trusts, and killing unsuspecting civilians are strictly forbidden under Islamic law.
Our Theological Mandate
We do not condemn terrorism to curry favor with foreign powers; we condemn terrorism because our faith demands it. Murdering innocent human beings is a grave sin against God.
