The Hypocrisy of the “Rules-Based International Order”

Western political establishments frequently invoke the “rules-based international order” to lecture developing nations on sovereignty and international law. Yet, a cold examination of modern history reveals that these rules are applied with extreme, self-serving selectivity.

When Western superpowers or their regional allies violate international law, launch unprovoked invasions, or impose illegal economic blockades, no sanctions are issued, no weapons are sent to the victims, and no international arrest warrants are enforced.

  • Selective Sovereignty: Territorial integrity is declared sacrosanct in Europe, but routinely violated in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
  • Weaponized Institutions: International financial institutions and legal tribunals are frequently leveraged to penalize sovereign nations that resist Western strategic mandates.

“An international law system that applies only to the enemies of empire is not law at all—it is merely imperial power disguised as morality.”
