No society can progress toward justice or self-reliance while marginalizing half of its population. In Kashmir, women have borne the heaviest burdens of conflict—as mothers of the disappeared, widows, half-widows, and primary caretakers of traumatized families.
Social reform demands that women transition from passive victims of circumstances to active leaders in civic, educational, and political spheres:
- Educational Access: Guaranteeing equal access to higher education, professional training, and leadership development for young women.
- Economic Independence: Supporting female entrepreneurs, craftswomen, and professional initiatives to ensure financial autonomy.
- Civic Leadership: Ensuring women hold decision-making roles in community councils, civil society organizations, and human rights advocacy.
A community that silences or restricts its women starves itself of half its intellect, wisdom, and moral strength.
