From Cynicism to Agency: A Blueprint for Ethical Governance

Decades of broken promises, betrayed accords, and political dishonesty have left Kashmiris deeply cynical. Many young people feel that all politics is inherently dirty, leading to political alienation or extreme radicalization.

To counter this cynicism, we need a new blueprint for ethical civic engagement:

  • Establish Local Truth Councils: Grassroots forums where community members can air grievances, expose local corruption, and hold leaders accountable outside of official state channels.
  • Promote Ethical Youth Leadership: Training the next generation not just in political advocacy, but in rigorous ethics, financial integrity, and non-violent civic organizing.
  • Prioritize Truth Over Unity: Unity built on shared lies is fragile. True, lasting unity can only be forged among people who trust each other’s commitment to the truth.

When we align our political tactics with moral integrity, we transition from passive victims of history to active agents of our own destiny.
